Sheikh Hasina landed in Ghaziabad near Delhi

Sheikh Hasina left Dhaka's Ganabhaban in a military helicopter around 2:30 pm on Monday.

The Indian press is reporting that Sheikh Hasina, who resigned from the post of Prime Minister, along with her younger sister Sheikh Rehana, arrived in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad, near the country's capital, New Delhi, via Agartala, India.

Indian media outlets The Hindu and News Eight wrote that a plane carrying Sheikh Hasina from Agartala landed at Indon Airport in Ghaziabad on Monday evening local time.

The Indian media did not give any information in their latest news about whether they will fly directly from there to the capital Delhi or somewhere else.

Earlier, Barta Reuters said that Sheikh Hasina left for Agartala in a military helicopter from Dhaka's Ganobhaban on Monday around 2:30 p.m., accompanied by her younger sister Sheikh Rehana.

CNN's partner Indian media News Eight wrote that after reaching Agartala, Sheikh Hasina is on her way to Delhi by plane. He is supposed to land in Delhi sometime.

However, the plane carrying Sheikh Hasina did not land directly at any airport in Delhi. It lands at one of India's largest airports near Delhi.

According to the latest report of News Eight on Monday at 6 pm local time in India, the plane carrying Sheikh Hasina and Sheikh Rehana was seen flying over Uttar Pradesh.

The media also wrote that Sheikh Hasina's destination is London. He has sought political asylum in the UK. However, three and his younger sister may spend Monday night in Delhi.

Sheikh Hasina has arrived in Agartala a few hours after the news of her resignation as Prime Minister and leaving for India in the face of mass protests, news agency Reuters reported.

Chief of Army Staff General Waqar-uz-Zaman addressed the people at the army headquarters around 4:15 pm. Then he confirmed the resignation of Sheikh Hasina.

Calcutta-based media Anandabazar Patrika wrote that the military helicopter carrying Sheikh Hasina was flown to Agartala by Air Commodore Abbas. He is a member of 101 Squadron.

Awami League president Sheikh Hasina, who has been in power for 15 and a half years, was forced to leave the country on Monday in the face of massive mass protests.

Sheikh Hasina had to step down amid clashes across the country and the death of over 300 people after the student movement that started 36 days ago to demand quota reforms in government jobs turned into a movement to topple the government.
